Fudan University belongs to the highest ranked universities in China. Collaboration is organised by the School of Development Studies and Public Policy. Its doctoral program deals with Population, Resources and Environment Economics. It can offer courses in English on East Asian culture and socio-economic development and in Chinese language. Apart from the links with Fudan Nordic Centre, it has excellent links to the socio-economic public and private sector, enabling diverse forms of internship.

Participation forms

  • Provision of expertise: One visiting teacher from the school, giving a special course/workshop on Chinese Health, Welfare and Society each consecutive academic year at an agreed time mutually convenient for the school and the program's curriculum.
  • Provision of placement: Receiving one or two students every year for a period of one month or more at times adjusted to existing course schedules. These students will be admitted to the regular course program in English with special emphasize on Chinese society and culture. They will also have the opportunity to participate in a program which gives them a concrete, on-site insight and experiences in the Chinese socio-economic sectors. Upon their request, the students will be invited to participate in basic courses in Chinese language. They will have access to the university's regular resources for services to international students.
  • Visits of EMM scholars: Welcoming visiting scholars (in education and/or research) from the consortium, organized within existing international/ bilateral exchange programs or otherwise.
  • Identification of future potentials: Taking part in a consecutive analysis of possibilities for a wider collaboration, eventually leading to joint courses and – if mutually possible and convenient – a joint program.

University of Babes-Bolyai is a multicultural university at present with 27 accredited doctoral schools. University of Kwazulu-Natal is represented by the School of Development Studies, has an unit specialized in the relations between development, population, welfare and health. Situated in the region with the highest HIV rates in the world, the problem has a prominent place in the research programs. Its doctoral program is developed with the participation of researchers from abroad and linked to Africa Centre, a Wellcome Trust funded institution of excellence for population studies.

The Fondation Nationale des Sciences Politiques (Sciences Po) is a fully-fledged, self-governing research university in the social sciences in France. It offers 13 training programmes, and several double degree programmes with prestigious universities around the world (Columbia, NYC, Georgetown, London School of economics, MGIMO, Moscow, etc). Sciences Po (in particular the "Chaire Santé") and the CSO researchers have already established close relationships with the important institutions in France on Health Research such as: the French School of Public Health (EHESP), the Research Institute of Public Health, the Health Authority, the National Research Institute on Cancer, French Monitoring Centre on drugs and drug addiction, the Public Health Institute within the INSERM: institutional links that the PhD students could be involved as well as in the research programmes on obesity policy in France, Public Health Policy, and Drug policy.
